Dr Anthony Valcke has been qualified as a lawyer for over 20 years and has worked as a senior legal consultant since 2005. He received his PhD in Comparative Law from the Università di Palermo (Italy) and holds degrees in English law and French law from King’s College London and Sorbonne-Panthéon as well as a postgraduate qualification in EU law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He has worked on numerous projects relating to the EU rules on the free movement of workers and persons, including undertaking training for Equinet to national support bodies appointed under Article 4 of Directive 2014/54 on measures facilitating the exercise of migrant workers’ rights. He has also served as legal advisor for Your Europe Advice since 2005 and in this capacity has answered over 13,000 enquiries on the rights of EU migrants in the single market. He is a visiting lecturer on EU migration law at the University of Kent’s postgraduate campus in Brussels, where he also founded the EU Rights Clinic. He also lectures at undergraduate level at Vesalius College in Brussels on the single market and legal aspects of migration, with both courses covering the free movement of workers. Originally qualified as a solicitor in England, he is also a member of the Brussels and Palermo bars.
